Breakway are a three piece electro-acoustic group from Chicago featuring Paul Giallorenzo on synthesizer and piano, Brian Labycz on electronics, and Marc Riordan on percussion. Each member is an active part in Chicago’s thriving improvised music scene. Paul is the programming director at local venue Elastic. Brian co-curates an improvised music series at Myopic Books and co-runs Peira Records. Marc is no slouch either, playing in over 13 active groups, wow! This group in particular, crafts subtle blocky compositions with traditional instruments and electronics. For this poster, I wanted to reflect the clarity of form found in their music.
