Fourtet / Matthew Dear

Kieran Hebden’s Four Tet, has been a long time favorite of ours. We first got to know his music through his fantastic album Rounds and have kept up with his work ever since. From his folk-driven downbeat electronica to his explorations in bit mapped free jazz, I’m constantly impressed by his curiosity and drive. His use of found sounds, live instrumentation, and geometric rhythms makes for a beautiful mix of nostalgia-free forward-thinking music. His newest work has been a bit more simplified and dance inspired and I wanted to touch on that with this poster. Set in a bold sans-serif, the type was chopped and separated into 4 colors. My aim was to make a poster heavy in active white space, with the type working as an active image rather than static information.
