Cornetist, Josh Berman is a mainstay in the Chicago free jazz/improv scene. He’s insanely active, playing in a wide range of groups, including the Chicago Luzern Exchange, Art Union Humanscape, and Exploding Star Orchestra, just to name a few. His confident and expressive playing style always brings an amazing energy to any line up. Old Idea marks Josh’s debut album as band leader and it’s a doozy! To celebrate the release Josh has put together a small tour and a handful of release shows here in Chicago. We were commissioned to make a multi-functional poster for this series of events. Josh was drawn to some of our more figurative and minimal work, so we did our best to develop an idea around those loose directions. Josh sits down a lot while playing, so an image of a chair was a no brainer! Chairs, art, objects, dada, it was just awaiting you.
