To create work in the pop realm is brutal. What’s hot today is cold tomorrow. Yet sometimes a hand full of musicians find ways to model a sound that has a unique identity. They are able to mold and create an aural memory that outlasts generations. What a spectacular achievement! This kind of forward thinking work is what we hope to achieve someday and we are so far away from that mountain. These guys seriously laid the ground work for electronic music as we know it today. When we got a chance to make this commemorative Kraftwerk poster for the Warner Brothers Records’ GIGART exhibit, we wanted to show a different side of these four gents form Germany! Depicted here, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Kraftwerk are viewed while taking a rest on their way to a performance at the very remote Himmel Club. Typeset in Times New Roman, we felt it was appropriate to do so.
