The Newberry Library is an independent research library here Chicago. They are a real treasure trove, housing thousands of rare books, maps, and manuscripts. This project was initiated by The Newberry’s graphic designer and all around good guy Dakota Brown to celebrate the library’s 25th annual book fair. The image is based on an early hand-colored postcard images of the building. We developed the image and type treatment, color seperation, together with Dakota and could not be more happy with this collaborative effort. The Newberry Library is a beacon in the printmaking community as they also have a strong collection of the history of printed books, artists books and maps (Wing Collection). Spread the word, as it is open to the Public for research and also has great exhibits.
