The Swell Season are an Academy Award winning duo made up of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. Their stunning music first appeared in the popular film Once, a fictional tale about love, music, and vacuum cleaners. The success of the film has led the duo to successful tours around the globe, becoming a much loved group in their own right. This poster was for a concert in Eugene, Oregon supporting their new album. Strict Joy. Many posters have been made for these guys, so we wanted to avoid some of the fast building cliches attached to the group…. couples, water, and…you guessed it….vacuum cleaners. This geological optical illusion comes a bit out of left field, but hopefully captures some of the loss, regret, distance, and joy that their music embodies so well.
