Mallow is a unique print made with brushed cyanotype medium applied to large format duplexed paper. The central image was created from a photonegative of a galled oak leaf. The spotty leaf embodies a symbiotic cycle of nature. Portions of the leaf are utilized by small insects as living quarters, creating large rounded welps on the surface. These are eventually released from the leaf, leaving a network of holes. This work was originally produced for our 2019 exhibiton, Mallow.
