The Humility of Seeing continues Sonnenzimmer’s ongoing investigation into the nature of image making. Pairing photographic documentation of performance, iconic graphic imagery, and text, the work aims to excavate meaning through a triangulation of various modes of expression. 
 
The culmination is a work of contemplation and action documenting an impromptu performance on a windswept beach paired with a graphic rumination on the rings of a tree. The poetic assemblage of events attempts to give shape to the space between wood and water, between sand and air, and thus between image and thought. What an image does to us, we also do to it.

Im Werk „Die Bescheidenheit des Sehens“ setzt Sonnenzimmer ihre fortlaufende Untersuchung der Bilderzeugung fort. Durch das Triangulieren, die Kombination von fotografischer Dokumentation der Performance, grafischen Bildelemente und Text, zielt die Arbeit darauf ab, die Bedeutung verschiedener Ausdrucksweisen zu enterden. 
 
Das Resultat ist ein Werk der Kontemplation und Aktion, inmitten eines spontanen Auftritts an einem windgepeitschten Strand, gepaart und gehüllt in Baumringe. Die poetische Ansammlung von Ereignissen versucht, den Raum zwischen Holz und Wasser, zwischen Sand und Luft und damit zwischen Bild und Gedanken zu gestalten. Was ein Bild mit uns macht, machen wir auch zum Bild.
