Maru
There are very few immediate benefits to moving a print shop. Boxes fill too quickly. Frustrations mount and bandwidths shrink. But, sometimes, after the dust settles (and is swept up, of course) you discover something, Maru is exactly that kind of shimmering opal in a sea of relentless uncertainty.
This small run of prints from 2010 was made by Nadine for a pivotal group exhibition titled Let There Be Geo. Alongside heroes like Cody Hudson and Maya Hayuk, we had the opportunity to show several works of our own.
Somehow in the hustle and shuffle, we neglected to share this work all those years ago. After a tranquil rest in our flat files, Maru is ready for the light. Printed in a micro edition of 10, the work is as rare as it is fun. The work captures the delicate form of a japanese paper balloon (or kamifusen) and extracts its beautiful and hopeful hues into a geometric abstraction.
