Screen Printing:
Improvisation and Control
Ox-Bow School of Art, Saugatuck, MI, June, 2016
Over this two-week course, students were introduced to the screen printing process through an improvisational approach to print production. Rather than reproducing pre-planned images, students were challenged to sculpt images with compositional and conceptual integrity by harnessing the additive and modular nature of the process. A variety of hand and photographic stencil making techniques were demonstrated and encouraged. In addition to leading the course, we used our in-class technical demonstrations to produce a series of unique books and mono prints.
